First Ever Sports Reps Fantasy Football Draft

The title explains it all folks. Today we held off on our podcast production to overdose on fantasy football and let you in our personal experience with fantasy football and their drafts. As these letters come off my keyboard, we are currently taking part in Yahoo! Fantasy Football auction mock drafts. It is quite interesting and much like salary cap football. Very strategic.

But most importantly, today we completed our first ever co-managed Fantasy Football draft. We decided to choose ESPN because as individuals we are heavy Yahoo! Sports users and we also have been hearing good things about ESPN's Fantasy Football game. We joined a 10-team custom snake draft league with 16 roster spots and we picked in the 5th overall spot. Some notable stat categories include: PATD (4), RUTD (6), RETD (6), MFG (-1), no fractional points and no PPR.

Our draft went as follows...

Round 1, 5th overall: Ray Rice (RB, Bal)
Round 2, 16th overall: Rashard Mendenhall (RB, Pit)
Round 3, 25th overall: Reggie Wayne (WR, Ind)
Round 4, 36th overall: Dwayne Bowe (WR, KC)
Round 5, 45th overall: Jason Witten (TE, Dal)
Round 6, 56th overall: Felix Jones (RB, Dal)
Round 7, 65th overall: Mario Manningham (WR, NYG)
Round 8, 76th overall: Eli Manning (QB, NYG)
Round 9, 85th overall: Mike Tolbert (RB, SD)
Round 10, 96th overall: San Diego (DST)
Round 11, 105th overall: Julio Jones (WR, Ari)
Round 12, 116th overall: Matthew Stafford (QB, Det)
Round 13, 125th overall: Braylon Edwards (WR, SF)
Round 14, 136th overall: Brandon Pettigrew (TE, Det)
Round 15, 145th overall: Sebastian Janikowski (K, Oak)
Round 16, 156th overall: Raiders (DST, Oak)

We were very pleased with our Rice and Mendenhall pairing (yes we know it is only a 10-team shallow league) as well as Mike Tolbert in the 9th. It will be interesting to see the difference between the way Yahoo! and ESPN run their leagues. What are your thoughts? Which site do you like/use?
